I facilitate social/emotional workshops for all ages of youth that stimulate self-awareness and power of expression, while empowering them to aid in creating community well-being.

We are looking for individuals or groups looking to anchor this initiative through the dedication of much time and energy.

We are looking for individuals and groups aligned with the mission of Building from the Block Up, and committed to sharing their assets whenever possible: expertise, knowledge, network,  ect. for the benefit of a spiritual and social progress.

What we are

RESOURCE NETWORK:

We are committed community servant-leaders dedicated to the well-being of all Lowcountry youth and neighborhoods. We are entrepreneurs, artisans, teachers, mentors, professionals, students, artists, businesswoman and technological innovators, networking and collaborating, acting and reflecting, on innovative solutions we can offer our community in order to increase the Quality of Life and Access to Resources for all. We work as a lean resource network providing organizational services by pooling our assets and'weaving individual initiatives and collective endeavors into patterns of unified action'. To support our work we receive donations and in-kind support yet we ultimately seek economic sustainability through four cooperative enterprises:

SOCIAL ENTERPRISES

MEDIA ARTS AND MARKETING GROUP:

The Media Arts and Marketing Group seeks to promote enterprises that show positive social impact. We provide affordable media coverage, video editing, social media marketing, online platforms, and collaborative communications support for Individuals, Networks, and Organizations. We specialize in  media used to present findings and solutions journalism to the broader community, local institutions and state government. Our media and marketing services are also available for discounted rates to business members of the resource network.

CULTURAL heritage education:

 The Cultural Heritage Education Group works to support cultural knowledge and sensitivity to diversity in our community. We facilitate regular conversations and experiences around social justice to increase understanding of intersectionality , broad historical contexts, promote diverse collaborations, and interdisciplinary  learning for Individuals, Networks, and Organizations to improve the social/cultural dynamics in their neighborhoods. We also offer an array of diversity trainings, continuing professional development, advocacy, and education workshops for businesses and institutions at affordable rates.

COMMUNITY BUILDING INSTITUTE:

The Building from the Block Up Community Building Institute acts as a learning hub to support adaptive system growth with community-based research and development, grassroots organizing, public/private partnerships, coalition building, social enterprise, and sustainable local economy. We offer resources and logistical support for community building projects by offering free classes, skill shares, and workshops. We seek to seize opportunities to utilize just and sustainable practices, appropriate technologies, and local knowledge to provide meaningful community service-learning experiences. To support this work we offer pay-per-session workshops, consultation, continuing professional development, and a 7-week long summer 'Building Institute'.

CULTURAL  ARTS &  ENTERTAINMENT GROUP:

Building from the Block Up Cultural Arts and Entertainment Group, is non-profit, 100% volunteer organization. We promote cultural arts education and youth empowerment through workshops, classes, and performance experiences. All of our events are donation-based or free and always open to the community. We perform in and/or host a wide array of charitable events. To support this work we offer affordable classes and are available for private bookings. We also provide consultation on cultural events for emerging, charitable non-profit organizations by offering creative and logistical support for their projects.
